Something is Stirring

Something is stirring
My ears have heard too many horrors
My eyes have seen too many tragedies
To let my voice remain silent
To let my hands remain idle
My soul cannot bear to witness another injustice
Perpetrated against children, men, women,
Species, environments, cultures, or countries
While what is mine, yours, theirs and ours
Is depleted, devastated, destroyed
I can no longer plead ignorance to the atrocities committed daily
And knowing, I must act
With my thoughts, my words, my body, my spirit
To create change not only in myself
But in my community, my country, my world
Something is stirring and the time to act is now
